"This is an image of Pertinacious who’s sought to enhance her beauty through carefully selected adornments in this portrait. Furthermore, I look at the idea of the dress as a fortress and how women used it to armour themselves against the ideals of a patriarchal society. I clothed the model in Kente cloth for this attire to comment on gendered identities and pay tribute to the community reinvening itself through cloth."
