Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio Peru, b. 1979

Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio
Lapidary Artist.
Creative director of L’AQUART.

Luis Alberto Quispe Aparicio transforms precious and semi-precious stones into luxury objects that defy time, matter, and the limits of conventional design. Heir to a family tradition dedicated since 1968 to jewelry, goldsmithing and gem carving, this Peruvian lapidary artist —based between Lima and Paris— has elevated his craft to an exceptional level, where contemporaneity, technical precision, artisanal excellence, and a philosophy of respect for the ancestral knowledge that gems retain coexist in each of his creations.

Founder and creative director of L’AQUART, a firm specialized in ultra-luxury pieces crafted with diverse precious stones such as ruby, aquamarine, tourmaline, jade, opal, lapis lazuli and other rare gems, Luis Alberto designs objects that fuse sculpture, 3D modeling, engineering, gem cutting, jewelry making and gemology, from a deeply ethical, aesthetic, and global vision. Each creation —whether a fountain pen, a dinner service, a lighter, a fashion accessory, or a collector’s piece— is a work of art that reinterprets symbolic narratives, pays tribute to mineral beauty, and is conceived to stand up to time and the natural value that dwells in each gem.

His creative process begins from an unusual premise in the luxury industry: devotion to origin. From a very young age he accompanied his parents on travels to mines and workshops specialized in different parts of the world — Brazil, Tanzania, Mexico, Bolivia, China and the United States — where he discovered, from the ground up, the energetic and material value of each stone. Those experiences gave him an organic knowledge of gemology and a perspective that materializes in his Lima workshop, where he works with a team of highly specialized Peruvian goldsmiths. Each gem that forms each work has been personally selected by him on expeditions to various corners of the world — from Brazil to Tanzania — in a patient, almost ritual, search for exceptional raw material. Traceability, from the mine to the final object, is an essential part of his value proposition.

“If we consider that nature took thousands or millions of years to create the gems we use, it is essential to treat them with respect if we are to have the courage to claim to transform something that is already unique, valuable and perfect. To carve is not to intervene: it is to reveal,” explains the artist.

Luis Alberto has forged a singular aesthetic, guided by curiosity, contemplation, and a deep respect for what is not obviously visible. His luxury language is not measured by ostentation but by permanence: pieces that connect cultures, memories, and energies without losing their mineral essence. His technical mastery of the ruby, one of the hardest stones on the planet, positions him as one of the few artists in the world capable of working it with poetic sensitivity and functional precision, without violating its soul.

Since 2010 he has been a regular collaborator of the legendary French Maison S.T. Dupont, in the Haute Creations department, for whom he has designed limited series and unique writing and accessory pieces, and he is currently one of the key lapidary artists of this luxury house. His work has been exhibited in museums such as:

•          GIA Museum (Carlsbad, EE. UU.)

•          Carnegie Museum (Pittsburgh, EE. UU.)

•          Lizzadro Museum of Lapidary Art (Chicago, EE. UU.)

•          Museum of Natural History (Viena, Austria)

•          Musée Collection des Arts (Moscow, Rusia)

•          Kamm Teapot Foundation (Carolina del Norte, EEUU)

At a moment when luxury is redefining itself, Luis Alberto offers a return to origin: pieces that not only contain beauty but also consciousness.
