"In this image I was inspired by a billboard in the capital city of Zimbabwe. The billboard depicts two women who are gathered and an advertising slogan on the sign says, ‘Ukama Ugasva’ which translates to ‘strong family bonds’ which are created by everyday acts. Although it’s an advertisement, the women are at home in themselves. I aimed to idealize the everyday and place great importance on cooking which seems mundane. Instead, I aimed to emphasize its monumental nature in bringing women together through solidarity against an African ceremonial landscape. As well as exploring staple foods and ideas of nationalism."
